Running Club

We build stronger bodies and stronger friendships while running. This program will take everyone where they are at and seek to build on their skills.

Running Club is for students in grades 3-5 who are interested in getting fit and making friends while building endurance to run a 5K!

Students will learn a number of skills that will enhance not only their running but also personal health. Some of these skills are: proper stretching, setting goals, pacing, teamwork, types of shoes and clothing to wear, in addition to much more. All activities are supervised by a qualified person as well as volunteers.

Tryouts are not based on speed. Club members must be willing to 1) work hard to improve, 2) listen to and follow directions, and 3) be respectful to leaders and other club members.

Runner's club meets two days a week in the summer, fall, and spring. It is free, but you must be dressed to run each day. Depending on the weather that may be shorts or running pants (no jeans).

We run at the annual Nile Walton district - wide race in early November. We also like to participate in the DeKalb Dash 5K in April.

Running can be a way of helping students achieve many things beyond the scope of just running!
