Portrait of a Baron

The Portrait of a Baron Graduate (PoB) was developed through the collaboration of more than 70 community members, including DHS students and district staff. This shared work identified seven core competencies that define what it means to be a DeKalb Central graduate. These competencies go beyond the completion of a rigorous academic curriculum and represent the knowledge, skills, and attributes our students carry with them into the future.

The PoB serves as the district’s guiding vision—our North Star—ensuring that decisions remain focused on the needs of students as they pursue their goals and aspirations. While a high school diploma marks an important achievement, it is not the end of the journey. The competencies outlined in the PoB prepare students to meet challenges, seize opportunities, and thrive in learning, work, and life beyond graduation.
