Good evening Bulldog families!

It was a wonderful week at McKenney-Harrison Elementary! This past Friday, our teachers participated in a meaningful In-Service Day filled with learning, CKLA collaboration, and shared ideas as they continue working to provide the very best for our students. We are grateful for a staff that models lifelong learning and teamwork.

Speaking of collaboration, congratulations to this week’s Portrait of a Baron Students of the Week for demonstrating the skill of Collaboration! We proudly recognize Ember Langford, Liam Egly, Jacob Rhodes, DeMariye’ Jones Jr., Joanna James, Cayson Holbrook, Charlie Beck, and Louella McDowell. These students showed what it means to work together, listen to others, and contribute positively to a team. We are so proud of you!

Congratulations as well to all of our Science Fair winners who represented McKenney-Harrison at the Science Fair on Saturday at Country Meadow Elementary. We had a fantastic showing! A special thank you to Mrs. Gerig and Mr. Fleming for their leadership and organization in preparing our participants. Be on the lookout for a separate post sharing our official results.

Our Duesenchords were also busy this weekend as they participated in Circle the State With Song, singing their hearts out through some challenging and lengthy selections. Well done to Mrs. Gentis and the entire Duesenchords for representing our school so beautifully!

Looking ahead to this week, our Math Bowl team will practice on Monday after school until 3:25. Robotics will meet Tuesday after school until 3:25. On Wednesday, both STEAM Team and Math Bowl will practice after school until 3:25.

On Thursday, our school will conduct our second active intruder drill of the school year, as required by state statute. We will begin with a lockout procedure, where students remain in their classrooms while school functions continue as normal, and then transition to a lockdown drill. During the lockdown portion, students will practice relocating to a designated safe space (“hard corner”) within their classrooms. There will be no scary themes or alarms associated with this drill. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about this important safety practice.

On Saturday, our Robotics team will participate in the annual area Robotics Competition at Kruze Plaza. Good luck to our team—we know you will represent us well!

Don’t forget that our VIP Dance is coming up on February 27th from 5:00–7:00 p.m. and is open to all students in Pre-K through 5th grade. Each student’s VIP guest must be 21 or older. Be sure to check the Parent Square flyer for additional details—we hope to see many of you there for a fun evening together!

Our School Store fundraiser is also ongoing, and we are just 5% short of reaching 50% participation! We still have many more huggables to give away. Every purchase directly benefits our classrooms and your children, so thank you for your continued support.
