Our fourth grade is jumping into Indiana History with salt dough maps.  Students learned about how glaciers affected our landscape way back in the Cenozoic era's Pleistocene epoch through this hands-on work.  The three regions of Indiana were sculpted into the flatlands and basins in the Great Lakes Plains, the flat and gently rolling Till Plains, and the knobs and caverns of the Southern Plains and Lowlands.  The kids really enjoyed making a 3-D relief map and discovered the great effect glaciers had on our state's land.
